My Crazy Co-worker!

I now am actively engaged in a new profession, a very important career that allows me to contribute to society in an extremely important way. I work for my father's business as an intern and I basically move papers from one general file to a new seperate medical file. It is very important work...something only my sister and I could do...or so I thought. My sister, being the excellent and hardworking employee that she is, decided to take a few days vacation and travel to Colorado to visit a friend. While she was away, I received a replacement employee by the name of Larson Welsh, a twenty-year-old student from my ward. (Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 8 9!) We became quick friends and he told me stories of his high school days when he was a crazy, stupid kid. He told me of how he used to fill the fountain on Sunset and Pecos with dishwashing soap so it overflowed with bubbles. He also told me about when he used to go to wild parties and then called the police on it, pretending to be a disgruntled neighbor trying to sleep and then when the police arrived, he would run away with all the other kids. He liked being chased by the cops. He told me of many high speed chases and close encounters with road rage. I was laughing extremely hard at all this highly entertaining stories. The first thing I thought afterward was that I can't wait to try all of these things myself!

My Very Own California Adventure

Yesterday, my ward decided to go to the Newport Beach Temple open house just for the day. I woke up bright and early at 6:00 AM. We got in the car and drove four and a half hours to Newport. We went straight to the temple and took the tour. The temple is so pretty inside. I especially enjoyed the rounded doorways. Everything is so clean and pretty in the temple and the chandeliers are amazing. After we went to the temple, lunch at Ruby's on the pier, and to the beach (where several girls from my ward got stung by jellyfish), we decided it was time to head home. We got back on the road at 5:30 PM and got stuck in traffic. We finally got out of the traffic when our tire blew out and we went careening out of control down the highway of DOOM. That's a little melodramatic....actually, the van swayed a little but we pulled off the road. We looked at the tire which was very beat up and not going to work anymore and were very concerned about what we should do next. We tried calling AAA but since my parents weren't with their car, AAA said they wouldn't cover us. JERKS! Morgie happened to have a AAA card so she called and they said they were on their way. The car was still on the freeway so we couldn't even try to change the tire because it was on the side facing traffic. We tried pushing the car off the freeway (that was a dumb idea) but we couldn't even move it an inch. :) It is a really heavy van, after all. We saw at least three policemen drive past and none of them stopped to help. Finally, a motorcycle cop pulled over to help us. He told us we needed to get off the highway. Even though it would ruin the tire even more, we drove it off to the side. Then we thought the policeman would offer to help change the tire, but he didn't. He told us not to try to "run across the highway." What an idiot!<(This quote taken from Hermione from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). The AAA guy came and fixed our tire and we were back on the road! We stopped again, down the road to use the bathroom. The first place we saw was a bar called Cattlemen in Hickville, California (that wasn't the actual name). We went inside and ordered two Sprites and then all 12 of us used the bathroom. We asked the server for two straws but she said she couldn't get any for us because it was a busy night (although there were only four people at the restaurant). It was an interesting bar/restaurant with a stuffed pheasant in the entrance and a wolf with a flattened head hanging on the wall. There was also a pond in the entrance way with five goldfish in it. We found it all very entertaining but we were also pretty scared. We got back in the car and hit the road, finally arriving home at 12:45 am. What an adventure!

My First Blog Entry

Isn't this a particularly nice blue color? So serene, like a lake untouched by flying birds or jumping fish. As you probably know, I am an extremely strange specimen with an uncommonly unique sense of humor. I like to laugh and have fun sometimes but at other times, I know I need to be serious and contemplate the great mysteries of life. As I previously mentioned, I am definitely a rare species of Kasidy and should not be taken seriously at any point in time. To make this "blog" make a bit more sense,I have provided this wonderful little story for your enjoyment. On Friday night, I went to Arroyo Grande Park, just a short ways from my own home for the enjoyable experience of ice blocking. When I arrived (to all the participants of the activity's incredible surprise and overjoyment) and found there to be not even one block of ice on the premises, I have to admit that I did not really care. Our little group of friends (it was actually quite large but I need to be more modest) then traveled a short way to the playground area but first had to encounter a major obstacle. The hurdle that we had to run over (if you ever have the unfortunate experience of joining the track team, you will learn that you don't jump over hurdles.....you only run over hurdles. I was quite befuddled by this odd life lesson) was a large wall followed by a shorter wall. As I gracefully leaped off of the first, extremely tall brick barrier, I slipped (still amazingly gracefully) and my legs flipped over my head as I tumbled (still gracefully) over the smaller wall where I landed on my side on the concrete sidewalk below. It was an extremely impressive piece of gymnastics. There is my story...hope it was a joy for you to read it!
